  • Excellent..

Whoops, I forgot about the fact that I have dial-up internet at home and wouldn't be on here while I was home for break! Good thing I had already made plans to come back for this week!

I decorated more today. :D I had to buy a new plant. I overwatered my cactus, Carslyle, and he died. So I got this fern for $4 at WalMart last night! And the rest of my decorating pictures are here too...

And a VERY satisfied NYU student.

The brown picture frame and AirWick candle are new, the movies were all stacked across the top before and it was all blah. The shelf the movies are on now was covered with junk. It's now in an organizer on my desk.

The whole corner!... It looks all crowded and homey haha.

On to other news... Guys are stupid.
    YEP!

Oh, and here's a good song...

    Hey Stephen by Taylor Swift

    Hey Stephen
I know looks can be deceivin'
But I know I saw a light in you
And as we walked, we were talking
I didn't say half the things I wanted to

Of all the girls tossing rocks at your window
I'll be the one waiting there even when it's cold

    Hey Stephen
Boy you might have me believin'
I don't always have to be alone

Cause I can't help it if you look like an angel
Can't help it if I wanna kiss you in the rain
    So come feel this magic
I've been feelin' since I met you
Can't help it if there's no one else
    Mmm I can't help myself

    Hey Stephen
I've been holdin' back this feelin'
So I got some things to say to you
I've seen it all so I thought that
I'd never see nobody shine the way you do

The way you walk, way you talk
    Way you say my name
    It's beautiful, wonderful
    Don't you ever change

    Hey Stephen
    Why are people always leaving?
I think you and I should stay the same

Cause I can't help it if you look like an angel
Can't help it if I wanna kiss you in the rain
    So come feel this magic
I've been feelin' since I met you
Can't help it if there's no one else
    Mmm I can't help myself

    The dimmer the street lights
    You're perfect for me
    Why aren't you here tonight
    I'm waiting alone now
So come on and come out and pull me near
    Shine, shine, shine

    Hey Stephen
I could give you fifty reasons why
I should be the one you choose
All those other girls, well, they're beautiful
But would they write a song for you? haha

I can't help it if you look like an angel
Can't help it if I wanna kiss you in the rain
    So come feel this magic
I've been feelin' since I met you
Can't help it if there's no one else
    Mmm I can't help myself
If you look like an angel
Can't help it if I wanna kiss you in the rain
    So come feel this magic
I've been feelin' since I met you
Can't help it if there's no one else
    Mmm I can't help myself

    Myself
    Can't help myslef
    I can't help myself

Off to WalMart, our drug of choice. It's the best place open 24 hours around here. After our trip, we are gonna take stupid pictures of ourselves with our New Years swag and color... And watch Wayne's World and Wayne's World 2, because we only got through the first one last night.

  • What is your latest obsession?

My latest obsession is definitely decorating!  My room was SO bare and drab.  So I started with some photographs.  There are some here by my desk, a few hanging on the wall with my schedules and food delivery menus, and some on my door.  I hung a state map and a couple city maps up there as well. Then I printed up some motivational things, mounted them on construction paper, put some sparkly things on them and put them on the other wall by my computer.

No, I don't drink soda. The 2 liter is from doing the "Diet Coke test" for a project.

Maps, photos, schedules, menus, and the like....

My favorite wall is my artsy wall.  I had some magazines from the Art Institute of Chicago so I took my favorite pages from those and put them on my wall, as well as the following words, the beginning of one of my favorite songs right now:

"I don't know what I want, So don't ask me, 'Cause I'm still trying to figure it out. I don't know what's down this road, I'm just walking, Trying to see through the rain coming down."   -Place in This World, Taylor Swift

Yesterday afternoon my roommate and I went to WalMart (like all the college kids do to waste time) and I picked up some little wooden animals and put them up on my artsy wall as well.

I also picked up a cute little vase, some fake flowers, and little glass pebbles at WalMart.. I had excess pebbles so I put them in a canning jar with my Monster energy drink tabs (and bottle caps ).

I got a bunch of old National Geographic magazines/catalogs from my grandma, so I'm sure I will find something in those to add to my artsy wall.

I just answered this Featured Question; you can answer it too!

  • ugh.

today is already not good. i'm anti-shift, sorry.

    one.
i wasn't in my foundations for success class monday when we were supposed to turn in our project, so i sent my professor an email saying that i would be back today and turn it in first thing. he said he never got my message and won't accept my paper. i'm so pissed beyond belief. i was having problems keeping my work done in his class earlier this semester but i worked out a deal to get it all caught up and turned all my make-up work in a week before i had to. i'm sure he looks at me as a slacker because i was so far behind, so i worked extra hard on this project to make it the best i could. i was radiating fury for most of the class period. i sit between two big strong guys and they both told me they were honestly afraid of me.. haha! the lecture today was about how when things get tough you just have to work through it and get things done. i wanted to be a smart aleck but held my tongue, like a good girl.

i have an appointment with him tomorrow afternoon to go over my binder with all of my papers from the semester. we will definitely be discussing this further. bitch mode may be activated.

    two.
my stomach feels like someone pulled it out through my belly button, gave it a vigerous deep tissue massage, and shoved it back in. its all crampy and nauseating. my throat feels like its as big around as a pencil... sick is not something i can be right now! neither is another major option, but we'll just not think about that too much.

    three.
the guy i was talking to (chris) before my current boo (derek) absolutely will not talk to me. he won't return my texts, answer my calls, or even write me back on facebook. so i sent him a message telling him that i was sorry for wasting so much of his time. fortunately my friend joe is being amazing at making me feel better about it.

    four.
my mom has no idea how badly i'm doing in school. i'm pretty sure that with not having this paper turned in my gpa will not be the 3.5 it needs to be to keep my scholarship. how am i supposed to explain that to her?

    five.
i have two projects due in english on friday. so far i have one draft for one and absolutely nothing for the other. the one i have a draft for is a ten page multi-genre project. my topic is "what you can learn from travel," but it is not about travel abroad programs, which is what most of my research has brought up. i want to do it in the format of a scrapbook. it is the main reason i can't afford to be sick.
the second project is a textural analysis.. a "reading between the lines" of an academic source.. which i would have done if the source didn't have to be included in our multi-genre project. i talked with a research librarian and she talked circles around me. i was frustrated enough to just leave without accomplishing anything.

    five (b).
because of english, i plan on not sleeping for the rest of the week. fml, please.

i'll stop with five things. nobody likes to listen to bitching. oh, but if anyone who hasn't made it to college yet reads this, go to college! it's the time of your life! just make sure that when you get started, you keep up on your schoolwork. don't fall into the bad habit of putting things off to the last minute if you can help it. talk to friends who have been through a semester or year before you get started and ask them how they keep things done or what they would do differently to make things easier. i'm sure they will have advice to give.

  • I love lazy days..

I've been lounging in bed most of the day, just looking up things on the internet and working (not nearly enough) on some projects that happen to be due this week. It's 30 degrees and snowing outside, class didn't seem worth the effort today. My teddy bear, bottle of water, youtube music collection, facebook and I have had a wonderful day in bed.

I've been pretty in the dumps about school lately and looking for something new.  My friend Em and I were talking last week about maybe getting a place together next year if I was still gonna be in town so I spent a lot of this morning (after I finally decided I needed to wake up) looking at photography programs at the different schools in the city. After looking and looking and looking, I decided that the best option was right here at my school! I'm really excited that I don't have to worry about transferring credits and whatnot.. and Em and I have an appointment Friday to look at apartments. :)

Entering the photography program here is so exciting for me. I feel like now I can start to follow the path that I want to be on. I have to wait until next fall, but my spring work will still count towards my degree and I will talk with the professors and see if I can get started early on my course work. Photography, to me, is more than just taking pictures. When it's an event, it is capturing the emotion of a moment that can't be recreated. When it's nature, it's sharing something that strikes me breathless and hoping someone else who sees it will think it is beautiful as well. When it's portraits, it's capturing the image of someone at a point in their life to be remembered and shared. And when its something that someone looks at and smiles at, it's a success.

I have so much more to talk about! But I have homework that I really shouldn't put off all week... Finals are coming up soon :[
